Scotch and Stilton, anyone?

Just to mix things up, the British Trade Association; Dairy UK have created a Cheese pairings app. Of course, cheese and wine pairings are a common ploy, but Dairy UK have gone down the even boozier route of cheese and whiskey pairings.

The free app features 50 different British-produced cheeses to choose from, paired with expert recommended whiskies, as well as the perfect ports, to match. Everything from upmarket cheeses like Colston Bassett Stilton (pairs well with a “rich spicy whiskey aged in sherry casks”) to everyday cheeses you can find in the supermarket like Cathedral City (paired will with a “smooth fruity Northern Irish or Scotch whiskey”), are included on the app.

“Our innovative and fun app is the first of its kind to pair cheese with whiskies,” explained Judith Bryans, Chief Executive of Dairy UK. “We can often forget just how versatile British cheeses are and that they make a great pairing not just with wine, but a whole range of other foods and drink.”

Dairy UK have promised that the app will be expanding in 2019 to offer other pairings including wine, beer and spirits such as gin or vodka. (Yes, you American cheese singles and erm that pint of beer is alright, but you know you can do better!)
